Brekyn and Griffin are getting their school work done for the day and are making plans to head outdoors. I will watch with the hot cocoa waiting!!
I mentioned changes a couple days ago when I jumped back on the blog. Yeah, well... lots of changes have taken place in the past couple of years!! Last school year we had Sean trying out a class Ag1 and doing Band with the high school as he was a freshman. He enjoyed it and quickly got involved with a few other things like pep band and FFA. We struggled through the year, the kiddo's a bit, but me A LOT!! It was getting difficult for me to stretch myself out and not only teach, but grade, encourage, discipline, do housework, and so much more! I was losing my zeal for homeschooling!! It really began the year prior, but I couldn't imagine seeing myself not homeschool our children. As I began to pray, God answered... go figure!! So this year I asked each of the children their opinion on attending public school... The boys were wanting and ready for the new challenge, Brekyn was ify on the thought and Griffin just wasn't sure since he was unable to read. SO... we made the decision to let the three older boys give it a try.
Sean totally came out of his "shell"!! He has sang solo's, had a main part in the play, joined Mock Trial, danced and sang with Show Choir, stepped up to help teachers, and SO much more!! We are very proud of the young man Sean has become... however he will have to carry a very full load in order to graduate with the school since they won't count his Freshman year of classes :-( Oh government and politics... frustrating!!! You would think since he made the honor-roll it would be a good indication he WAS taught all that was needed up to the point he entered high school?!
Corben has molded into the school system without many issues. When he started, I was worried about his reading/spelling/writing, but it seems he is like many that are already in the school and he doesn't stand out as "having issues". He also joined the band which put him in marching band, pep band and whatever else they may have where he can play drums/percussion. He also joined choir where he danced with the Show Choir! Corben played football and is now in wrestling, however an injury to his shoulder has taken him out for the past 4 weeks, we are hoping the doctor visit on Monday will allow him to get back to the mat! He is a freshman so no issues with getting credits and graduation. He was also on the honor roll first quarter.
Logan began with the Jr. High which is in the same building as the Sr. High. He had the most struggles with the changes. It was hard for him to catch the bus, make it to class with a short amount of time, find time to use the bathroom, understand all expectations since he has many teachers and those expectations can vary. He has a couple teacher he is not fond of... he struggles with those classes. Now that we are finishing the first semester, he has found a way to get things finished and get to places on time. He is doing well with the transition now that time has passed. Logan still stuggles with knowing when to just stay quiet and when it is time to speak which words should flow out. We pray Logan will mature and find just what he enjoys and pursue those areas. Logan played football, did wrestling, and has his first basketball game this evening. He is in the band and choir, but doesn't seem to enjoy them... He was also on the Honor Roll the first quarter!!

Brekyn and Griffin are both being homeschooled this year! I am thankful to have them at home for yet another year and it has been much easier scheduling and planning for two. My time is not so thin and I am not being stretched as much as before. They are doing well with their studies! Brekyn still absolutely loves her horse and rides as often as she can with her best friend Lizzie. Griffin is enjoying the attention he gets with not having the older boys here all the time. He is coming along in reading and hopefully by next year he will be right on target! His math is excelled, he seems to be a number child like his daddy!
As for me... I am content! I truly want to get back into the work force in an office position, but all in God's time, NOT mine!! I pray for God to lead and I know when the time is perfect, I will know! For now, I clean offices to bring in extra spending money, take care of the kiddo's and still taxi the kiddo's around quit a bit. I serve in the youth group and am the financial secretary for our church and am on many committee's. I thank God for answered prayers!
Maybe this is you, changes seem to be inevitable. You are trying to do things on your own, in your own strength. You can't imagine changing things from the way they have been for several years. You can't imagine giving up control or leadership. Let me just say that God is the perfector of all, He knows what we can handle and just how much of it we can handle. Change is good and is great when you are letting God do the leading in your life!!
